For Berni Sydow, art has always been second nature, something deeply embedded in her soul. Creating, collecting, reading about, and simply living art are what make her feel most connected to the world around her. Her love for bright colors and mixed media gives her work a vibrant, uplifting quality, often blending traditional artistry with elements of up-cycling and sustainability.

While life’s responsibilities occasionally placed her creative pursuits on hold, Berni’s passion never faded, it simply evolved. During her years in Switzerland, she joined a local art team, helping organize exhibitions and showcasing her own work in various galleries. Those experiences reignited her artistic spirit and opened doors to new creative collaborations.

One of the most meaningful of these collaborations has been with her daughter, Tasha Cannaday. Together, they share not only a deep family bond but also a powerful artistic connection built on mutual inspiration and respect. After returning to North America and settling in Canada, the pair launched Wild Heartistry, a creative endeavor dedicated to colorful, expressive, and heartfelt art.

Through Wild Heartistry, Berni continues to explore the boundless world of mixed-media art, crafting pieces that bring warmth, joy, and individuality into any space.

My Mission

My mission is to create art that breathes new life into forgotten materials, transforming the old, the discarded, and the overlooked into something vibrant and full of meaning. I believe that creativity can renew not only objects, but also the spirit, and that beauty can be found in the most unexpected places.

Through bold color, texture, and mixed-media expression, I aim to inspire others to see value in what already exists, to appreciate the stories within the materials themselves and the journey of transformation they represent.
